The access of Young people to employment is difficult, but in the case of youth under tutelage, the situation becomes harder. When the boys and the girls that have lived under the tutelage of the Public Administration are 18 years old, they are forced to emancipate themselves and live as adults without reaching the level of maturity required, economic resources, nor a family support network in order to address this situation. That is why this collective is at high risk of being excluded due to their special and personal situation, which require accompanying initiatives that help them to deal with the challenges facing them.
La Fundación Mainel has been developing since 2014 the DayOne program to boost entrepreneurship among young people. This successful experience has encouraged us to organize the 5th DayOne Program on entrepreneurship. In this edition, the program is specifically addressed to the young people under tutelage from the city of Valencia.
The project will focus on the encouragement of young people in the proper and innovating use of new technologies, to launch their own entrepreneurial ideas with a greater possibility of success. This initiative will take place together with la Fundación Ángel Tomás and la Federación de Entidades con Proyectos y Pisos Asistidos (FEPA).
The main activities will consist in one training workshop on introduction to creation and 3D printing and a training course on entrepreneurship assured by experts employing the “learning by doing” methodology. In addition, there will be exchanges with other young entrepreneurs and visits to social enterprises and technological laboratories where girls and boys will be able to discover the new employment possibilities.
To enable the replica of the project and reach more young people, a micro web will be developed where the results of the project, business cases and experiences can be shared.
The 5th DayOne Programme will be headed by Manuel Martínez Torán, full professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València, who has an extensive experience working with associations affiliated to The Federación de Entidades con Proyectos y Pisos Asistidos (FEPA).
